Gay, Lesbian, Homosexual Ordained as a Minister
The Evangelical Lutheran Church (Lutheran Denomination) is one of the largest churches in America. Lutherans believe that GOD is the creator of the universe, and that Jesus is the son of GOD, that was sent to become human just like us. They believe that we are saved only by the grace of GOD, and not by our works. Lutheran’s believe that our salvation comes through faith.
They also believe that we humans, both male and female are created in the image of GOD, as do most Christians. However, under the policy of the Lutheran Church homosexuals are required to make a vow of celibacy in order to be ordained as ministers, whereas heterosexual couples are not required to follow this policy.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Jen Rude a committed Evangelical Lutheran, an openly gay, lesbian refused to take the vow of celibacy when she was ordain. Jen Rude, became the first lesbian minister to be ordained, and also the first not to accept this vow of celibacy….calling it discriminatory.
