Optimizing your Website

In order to optimize your website for maximum results in the search engines, you need to be aware of website optimization strategies such as:

·         Choosing a Domain Name using your Keywords

·         Selecting a Keyword related Page Title

·         Using Header Tags

·         Making use of Image Tags

·         Using good Keyword Placement on your page

·         Making use of Bold, underlining and hyperlinking keywords.

If you read the previous posted article on keywords and key phrases, then you are already familiar with the importance of using keywords. 

If you are fortunate enough to be apart of the creation of your website or have access to the inside workings , design and structure of your website, then you need to familiarize yourself with the above website optimization techniques.

Choosing a Domain Name

When choosing your domain name it is very important that you used the keywords that you have established that people will key into the search engines when they are searching for your site.  Using these keywords in your domain give you another step-up, to obtaining higher search engine placement for your website.

Selecting your Page Title

If you notice each website page has a Page Title that shows up at the top of the page, when the web page is opened.  So, you never want a generic page title “page1”, when you can place the keywords for that page in the page title.  Using keywords that are related to the page in your title will give you another step-up, to obtaining higher search engine placement for your website.

Using Header Tags

When search engine spiders read your page they look for tags such as Header Tags  “H1” that tell them that this is more than likely what this page is about.  So using key words and signifying them using header tags tell the search engines more about what each page is related to.  The use of keywords with header Tags will give you another step-up, to obtaining higher search engine placement for your website.

Using Imagine Tags

When search engines spiders read your page, they also pick up image tags.  The tags on images are usually whatever you have named the image.  So, you need to name your images using keywords before uploading them to your website.  Using images that have keyword related names will give you another step-up, to obtaining higher search engine placement for your website.

 

Bolding, underlining and hyperlinking

Using Bold, underlining and hyperlinking your keywords tell the search engines that those keywords are important content on your page. You do not want to ever bold, underscore or hyperlink every word on your page,  as this will alert the search engines that they may need to check you pages for keyword stuffing.  But using bolding, underlining and hyperlinking without abusing it, is an essential method and will give you a step up, to obtaining higher search engine placement for your website.

Keyword Placement on your page

Keyword Placement is very important on your website in order to boost your website performance.  When search engines read your web pages, they read from the top left hand column first.   So having your keyword related tags, headers,  bold, underlined, hyperlinked navigation links in this area you give your website a step-up, to obtaining higher search engine placement for your website.

      I began to teach myself Microsoft Frontpage back in December of 2005, after receiving it in a evaluation package.

      In closing I would like to say, that the entire software package is still in use and I am very satisified with my decision to evaluate this product.
