Over twenty years ago, when I first started in the world of mail order I used whatever resources that were available to me at the time, in order to run my mail order business.  Today, we have an enormous about of information  on starting a mail order business, at our disposal.   From some of the most impressive libraries, fill with all types of books leading your on your journey to having a successful mail order business, to audio and video learning tools, infomercials, and even the internet.

The era of the internet can be known to the mail order industry as one of the greatest means of marketing for the mail order community.  The internet has provided not only marketing power to the mail order industry, but it also provides a much needed means or obtaining fast and quick resources on starting and maintaining your mail order business.

In 1985, when I began my mail order business, which was based on working at home, I began with a vision of where I wanted to be, however I did not visualize how exactly I had planned to get to my destination in the mail order business.  I spent quite a few years doing direct marketing, and marketing via the major magazines, like the Sun, Globe and the Weekly Reader magazines.  Hint: Marketing expenses quickly drained profits, only leaving enough to repeat the process.

Today, the Internet has opened up other avenues of marketing for the mail order business person.  Marketing on the internet is quite inexpensive compared to direct marketing campaigns offline, and offline magazine advertising.  If you own a mail order business of any kind, you can now reach many more people online with your product or service for ½ the cost you would doing offline advertising in your local area.
